China's Ban on Cryptocurrency Mining Spreads... Anhui Province Also Prohibits It
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suhwan] Following Inner Mongolia and Sichuan, Anhui Province in China has also decided to ban cryptocurrency mining.
Anhui Province announced that due to severe power supply shortages expected over the next three years, it has decided to halt all cryptocurrency mining projects, according to local Hefei media Hefei Zaixian on the 14th.
According to reports, Anhui Province will strictly control new mining operations with high energy or power consumption and will ensure orderly construction of data centers.
Earlier, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region announced eight major measures to crack down on cryptocurrency mining in May, including placing individuals and companies involved in mining on a "credit blacklist." It also stated that public officials who support or protect cryptocurrency miners will be severely punished.
Starting with Inner Mongolia, Qinghai Province, Yunnan Province, and Sichuan Province have also successively moved to ban cryptocurrency mining.
