Sejong City Imposes 170,000 Property Tax Cases Worth 56.3 Billion Won... Payment Due by Next Month 2
[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Sejong City announced on the 14th that it will impose and notify approximately 1.7 million cases of regular property tax amounting to about 56.3 billion KRW this month.
The imposed regular property tax is 10% higher than the same period last year (51.1 billion KRW), and the amount includes local resource facility tax and local education tax.
The subjects of taxation are buildings such as houses, offices, commercial buildings, and facilities other than houses, and the taxpayers are owners of houses and buildings as of June 1 of this year.
In the case of the housing portion, the tax base includes houses and attached residential land, and the property tax amount is divided in half and imposed in July and September. Houses with a principal property tax amount of 200,000 KRW or less will be fully imposed this month.
Property tax can be paid by directly visiting financial institutions by the 2nd of next month, or by using a dedicated virtual account without a tax notice, Internet WETAX, telephone ARS, or mobile simple payment apps.

A city official said, “We will actively consider requests for deferred collection from taxpayers who have difficulties paying local taxes due to COVID-19 damage,” and added, “Other taxpayers are urged to strictly observe the payment deadline as failure to pay property tax within the deadline will result in additional penalties.”
