LG Uplus is launching a customized telecommunications product for the food service industry that allows small business owners struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic to manage everything from tax and accounting to recruitment, delivery, and quarantine at once. On the 13th, LG Uplus held an online press conference and announced the launch of the 'U+ Our Store Package,' which allows customers to freely choose and subscribe to store management support solutions, internet phones, intelligent CCTV, and more based on their store’s needs, with Payment Safe Internet as the basic service.
Im Janghyuk, head of LG Uplus’s Enterprise Infrastructure Business Group, who gave the announcement, said, “Launching products targeting specific industries of small business owners is a new attempt never done before. We plan to expand specialized products to store-based retail and office-type businesses following the food service industry. Through industry-specific specialized services, our goal this year is to increase new B2B subscribers by more than 40% compared to last year and boost sales up to 90 billion KRW.”
The U+ Our Store Package introduced by LG Uplus today is characterized by allowing self-employed operators of food service stores to use up to nine management support solutions for free for up to one year in addition to existing internet products.
The store management support solutions consist of six solutions usable across all industries?▲Sechingu (tax), ▲Cash Note (sales management), ▲Alba Heaven (recruitment), ▲Samsung Card (finance), ▲Medius (health check), ▲LG Electronics (rental)?and three partners specialized for the food service industry?▲Baedal Minjok (delivery), ▲Tomato Seven (pest control and cleaning), and ▲Dodo Cart (ingredient cost management).
Kim Hyunmin, head of LG Uplus SOHO Business, said, “The U+ Our Store Package has no minimum contract period,” adding, “Considering the services provided through partnerships with nine leading companies, it is expected to save about 1 million KRW annually on average.”
The store management support solutions can be used free of charge for up to 12 months when subscribing to Payment Safe Internet, which costs 25,300 KRW per month. Small business owners who subscribe to the package can check detailed information about the solutions through ‘U+ Boss Plaza.’
Increasing Safe Food... ‘Store Safety CCTV’ with No Blind Spots
A new ‘Store Safety CCTV’ that allows remote monitoring of kitchen safety and cleanliness is also introduced. The Store Safety CCTV features a special camera capable of 360-degree vertical and horizontal adjustment and a variable-focus camera with up to 5x zoom, enabling management without blind spots. Recorded footage can be remotely viewed and managed via a mobile app and PC program. With growing interest in safe food, the purpose is to reduce customers’ anxiety by utilizing CCTV.
LG Uplus has decided to implement this system at The Born Korea (270 stores) and Domino’s Pizza (108 stores) and plans to enhance the system so that general customers can also check store footage in real time in the future. Up to eight cameras can be installed, and the operating cost is 13,200 KRW per camera per month.
However, concerns were raised about potential privacy invasion, employee personal information exposure, and surveillance despite CCTV being installed for hygiene and cleanliness purposes. In response, Kim Hyunmin said, “It is for monitoring cooking status and cleanliness, and surveillance is strictly prohibited under the Personal Information Protection Act,” adding, “We will clearly inform and manage the use of Store Safety CCTV through terms of use, application forms, and the website.”
Regarding security and traffic management of the footage, Im Janghyuk, head of the Enterprise Infrastructure Business Group, explained, “CCTV footage is automatically stored on cloud servers,” adding, “We have obtained government certification for cloud security algorithms and are the only telecom company to equip virtual private networks (VPN) to block external access to footage, making it impossible for anyone other than customers to view or hack the camera footage.”
