Yoo Gi-sang, Gochang County Governor, Goes All Out to Secure Next Year's National Budget

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Yoo Ki-sang, the governor of Gochang County, Jeonbuk, is actively working to secure next year's national budget despite the heat, focusing on projects such as the ‘Marine Healing Zone Development Project’ and the ‘Donghak Peasant Revolution Sacred Site Project.’

On the 13th, according to the county, Governor Yoo visited central government ministries including the Ministry of Strategy and Finance in Sejong City, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to explain the necessity of national funding support for key projects.

During his visit to the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, he explained the justification and urgency of projects such as ▲Gochang County Marine Healing Zone Development Project ▲Expansion and Development Project of Gushipo National Fishing Port, requesting interest and cooperation.

He then visited the Safety Budget Division, Culture Budget Division, and Employment Environment Budget Division of the Ministry of Strategy and Finance to seek cooperation on county pending projects including ▲Guam Natural Disaster Risk Area Maintenance Project ▲Donghak Peasant Revolution Sacred Site Project ▲Gochang County Rural Village Sewage and Sewer Pipeline Maintenance Project.

On the same day, Deputy Governor Lee Joo-cheol also visited the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Ministry of Environment, and Ministry of Agriculture to explain projects such as ▲Drainage Improvement Project in Sunam District ▲Construction Project of Medicinal Crop Industrialization Support Center, requesting national funding support.

In particular, the county plans to continue operating an organic cooperation network with central government officials, Jeonbuk Province, and political circles during the Ministry of Strategy and Finance’s budget formulation phase (August) and the National Assembly’s budget review period (September to November) to share the status of national budget activities and actively respond to key projects that are not reflected or under-reflected.

Governor Yoo Ki-sang said, “Securing national funding is essential to minimize the county’s financial burden and successfully promote key pending projects that will drive Gochang’s development,” adding, “This is the most critical time to ensure that local pending projects are reflected as much as possible, so we are putting all our efforts into it.”
