Jeongeup-si Selected for 'Smart Sewage Treatment Plant Pilot Project'

[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province (Mayor Yoo Jinseop) announced on the 12th that it has been finally selected for the Ministry of Environment's "Smart Sewage Treatment Plant Leading Project" contest, securing 3.3 billion KRW in national and provincial funds.

The city expects to achieve stable sewage treatment, improve discharged water quality, and realize energy savings in the future.

The Smart Sewage Treatment Plant Leading Project will invest a total of 4.4 billion KRW (2.2 billion KRW national funds, 1.1 billion KRW provincial funds, 1.1 billion KRW city funds) from next year through 2023.

As part of the Ministry of Environment's Green New Deal policy, this project is a leading initiative to intelligentize sewage treatment plants by establishing an ICT (Information and Communication Technology)-based decision-making system for energy savings and water quality improvement.

Throughout the entire sewage treatment process, real-time monitoring, remote control management, and intelligent advanced measuring equipment based on ICT will be used to collect analyzed and diagnosed data.

Accumulated big data will support decision-making to maintain optimal operating conditions, and automatic control will enable energy savings and stable discharged water quality.

Additionally, it is expected that optimal public sewage treatment facilities will operate with zero human error and improved performance.

With this project selection, the city plans to focus on maximizing efficiency by optimizing sewage treatment performance and minimizing energy use.

A city official stated, "We will operate the sewage treatment facilities in optimal condition to secure stable discharged water quality," and added, "We will promote a perfect Smart Sewage Treatment Plant Leading Project to improve residents' quality of life."
