'Panmunjom Tour' Followed by 'Unification Walk' Also Suspended Due to COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The Ministry of Unification's event, "DMZ Peace Trail Unification Walk" (hereafter Unification Walk), which was operated with the purpose of experiencing the history of division by walking through border areas, has been temporarily suspended.
According to the Ministry of Unification on the 12th, the short-term Unification Walk event scheduled to be held from the 20th to the 23rd for 3 nights and 4 days has been canceled.
Additionally, the long-term Unification Walk event, planned to be held from August 3rd to 15th for 12 nights and 13 days, had recruited participants, but the announcement was postponed as the event's holding was not confirmed. The short-term Unification Walk event scheduled from August 24th to 27th has stopped recruiting participants.
A Ministry of Unification official explained, "Under the current Level 4 social distancing in the metropolitan area, it is impossible for about 70 participants to gather in Seoul and move to the opening ceremony location."
