National Education Council to Hold Digital Education Forum from 12th to 16th
Sessions and Discussions Held to Develop Digital Education Policies
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Presidential National Education Council will hold the 2021 Digital Education Forum from the 12th to the 16th under the theme "Renewing Education through Digitalization: Discussing Current Issues and Challenges."
Hosted by the Digital Education Special Committee of the National Education Council, this forum was planned to explore the direction of digital education and to discover digital education policies that resonate with the public through communication with various educational stakeholders.
The forum will proceed in the order of keynote speeches, three sessions, designated discussions, and a comprehensive discussion, with all presentation videos being made available on the Digital Education Forum website.
The keynote speeches will cover three topics: ▲ "Social Changes in the Age of Artificial Intelligence and Challenges for Our Education" (Kim Jin-hyung, Distinguished Professor at Chung-Ang University) ▲ "Exploring the Possibility of Democratic Educational Policy Decision-Making through Digital Platforms" (Lee Kwang-ho, Director of the National Education Council) ▲ "Talking about the Education DATABANK" (Lim Cheol-il, Professor at Seoul National University).
Sessions 1 to 3 will include presentations and online opinion gathering on core issues of digital education, directions for digital education linked to the curriculum, and strategies for educational innovation using artificial intelligence technology.
In the designated discussions, 24 discussants selected through a public recruitment will present their opinions on 19 subtopics, allowing for in-depth listening to diverse views from educational stakeholders.
The comprehensive discussion will be held at 2 p.m. on the 16th, moderated by Lee Chan-gyu, Chair of the Digital Education Special Committee. Seven panelists representing various educational stakeholders including professors, students, teachers, parents, and researchers will participate. The discussion will be broadcast live, and participants can express their opinions through comments.

Kim Jin-kyung, Chair of the National Education Council, stated, "Innovative changes are necessary in our education to respond to the development of digital technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data, and the changes in future society," adding, "This forum is meaningful as it seeks new directions for education in the era of digital transformation together."
