Korea FPSB Offers Free Ethics Training for Financial Planners at Online Education Center
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-seop] Korea FPSB has launched an online education center to provide ethics education and maintain professionalism for certified individuals.
According to Korea FPSB on the 10th, the education center offers a mandatory ethics education course free of charge, emphasizing prioritizing customer interests and standards for ethical and financial planning practices. Courses analyzing the Financial Consumer Protection Act and financial dispute cases, as well as courses addressing ethics in the untact era, have been established.
The courses are intended for holders of the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Associate Financial Planner Korea (AFPK) certifications. Both CFP and AFPK certifications require renewal and recertification every two years, during which 2 credits of ethics education must be completed. The total required education credits are 30 for CFP and 20 for AFPK.
Korea FPSB is an organization that operates certification services under an international standard curriculum through a contract with the International FPSB. To enhance convenience in the future, it plans to reorganize the system to allow certified individuals to earn continuing education credits required for certification and renewal in a one-stop process.
A Korea FPSB official emphasized, “The number of financial consumers harmed by incomplete sales and prioritizing company profits is increasing. While institutional improvements to build trust with customers and create a sound financial market environment are important, the ethical awareness of financial market participants for the benefit of customers must come first.”
