[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Shinsegae Department Store announced on the 11th that it will hold art exhibitions and sales at its Gyeonggi Branch and Times Square Branch. This follows last month's introduction of domestic artists' works at the rooftop garden of the Gangnam Branch.
The event, titled "Emerging Artist with Shinsegae," will be held at the Gyeonggi Branch until the 18th and at the Times Square Branch from July 20 to August 22. The purpose is to provide artists with opportunities to showcase their talents and capabilities and to create a space for communication with the public.
This time, customers can appreciate and purchase artworks not only at the department store exhibition sites but also on SSG.com. Shinsegae Department Store stated, "We considered customer accessibility and convenience," adding, "We provide various platforms so that artists can promote themselves not only offline but also in online spaces."
A total of 16 artists are featured at the Gyeonggi Branch, representing diverse genres such as Western painting, Eastern painting, pop art, and sculpture. The artworks are installed in the rooftop garden, cultural hall lobby, and corridor walls. Representative artists include Imiso, Zoey, Ryu Youngbong, MeME, Lee Si, Jo Yongik, Park Sohee, Kim Misook, Yang Jongyong, Kim Minki, Kwon Taehun, Shin Jaeun, Lee Yong-eun, Damda, Park Gibok, and Shin Chaehoon.
This exhibition is also a win-win project supporting art startups. The agency "Mansion Nine," responsible for curating the works, is a small company with 10 employees that discovers promising artists.
Through this event, Shinsegae Department Store aims not only to introduce domestic emerging artists but also to incubate domestic startups. In a situation where ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management is gaining significant attention, this project plans to fulfill the company's sustainable social role.
