Hyundai Department Store Trade Center Branch Temporarily Closed Until the 12th Due to COVID-19 Cluster Infection
An interim closure notice has been posted at the Hyundai Department Store Trade Center branch in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, where a COVID-19 cluster infection occurred on the 7th. According to the Seoul city government, after two employees at the Trade Center branch were first confirmed positive on the 4th, employees and acquaintances were subsequently infected. Kim Hyung-jong, President of Hyundai Department Store, said, “In a situation where concerns about the fourth wave of COVID-19 are growing, we decided in consultation with health authorities to minimize further spread and comprehensively consider the safety of customers and employees.”
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases related to the Hyundai Department Store Trade Center branch is 69. All confirmed cases so far have been identified as employees working at the Trade Center. Hyundai Department Store conducted comprehensive COVID-19 testing for all 3,600 employees working at the Trade Center branch.
During the closure period of the Trade Center branch, Hyundai Department Store plans to fully focus on its own disinfection and hygiene management in close cooperation with health authorities, and to operate a safety disinfection officer system to manage compliance with disinfection rules for employee facilities such as warehouses and break rooms to ensure the safety of employees working in the store.
Additionally, more than two rounds of COVID-19 testing will be conducted for all employees working at the Trade Center branch, and all employees working in the food hall will undergo a 14-day self-quarantine period separately from the COVID-19 testing to ensure employee safety.
