Another Hate Crime Against Asians in Australia... Group Assault on Asian Students
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Eunbyeol] Three Asian students were collectively assaulted by local students in Australia.
According to local Australian media and the Daily Mail on the 6th, a video showing three Asian students being collectively assaulted by local teenage students in Inala, south of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, has been spreading on social networking services (SNS) such as Instagram and online community site Reddit.
In the video, Australian youths surrounded the three Asians and threatened them. Then, the assault began, including pulling the hair of one Asian female student. They continued to violently hit the female student's face with fists, and even after she fell to the ground, they kicked and punched her head. A nearby male companion protested, saying "What did she do wrong?" and tried to protect her, but it was to no avail.
The video captures the victims' screams and cries along with the perpetrators' curses and laughter. One of the offending students was even seen laughing and leaving the scene after the assault, which further fueled public outrage.
The problematic video was made private on Reddit due to "racism," but it is rapidly spreading online through SNS and other platforms.
