The significance of this agreement ceremony lies in seeking solutions for career paths after individuals with developmental disabilities graduate from educational institutions, enabling them to live independently as members of society through employment.
At the event, Shin Hang-cheol, CEO of SJ Power, stated, “We will establish a subsidiary-type standard workplace for people with disabilities to provide customized jobs that promote economic independence and a sense of accomplishment. Through facility expansion, we will create a foundation that allows more people with disabilities to become self-reliant.”
Kim Seon-tae, principal of Cheonan Inae School, said, “It has always been difficult for students with disabilities to find employment even after completing special education for independence, so we have had many concerns about their career paths. We sincerely thank you for providing a channel through which they can achieve their dreams and fulfill their roles as members of society through such jobs.”
Cheonan Inae School is a public special school established in 1991 for students with intellectual disabilities. Currently, 235 students are enrolled, and the school operates an integrated curriculum from elementary school through high school and specialized courses.
SJ Power was established in 2012 and has managed hygiene control. In response to the COVID-19 era, it began producing masks. Its independent brand, ‘Singgeurami Mask,’ made with domestic materials and a thorough production management system that prevents skin troubles when worn, has been recognized for its quality both domestically and internationally by obtaining certifications from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, social enterprise certification, and passing the rigorous NIOSH (U.S. National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) tests.
Additionally, SJ Power has consistently engaged in social contribution activities by delivering masks produced so far to welfare facilities such as senior welfare centers, organizations, traditional markets, small business owners, and workers in industrial complexes, among various vulnerable groups.
Following an agreement ceremony with the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled in August last year to expand job creation for people with disabilities, SJ Power is now promoting the establishment of a ‘subsidiary-type standard workplace for people with disabilities’ through new and expanded factory facilities. Starting in early September, it plans to first hire 10 people with disabilities and aims to produce not only masks but also daily hygiene products such as toilet paper, wet wipes, and hand sanitizers.
