View original image[Haenam=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam County in Jeollanam-do announced that on the morning of the 6th, amid continuous heavy rain overnight, a special emergency meeting was held under the chairmanship of County Governor Myeong Hyeon-gwan, attended by all heads of departments and offices, to address the heavy rain emergency measures.
Governor Myeong ordered, "As the highest daily rainfall since meteorological observations is expected, we will respond as if it is an emergency disaster situation to minimize damage to residents," and instructed thorough on-site inspections in all towns and townships along with full efforts for resident damage recovery.
Earlier on the dawn of the 6th, Governor Myeong visited the flooded residential site in Samsan-myeon, the flooded roads and farmland in Hwasan and Hyeonsan, checked the damage and recovery status, and visited the Tapdong Village Hall where residents had evacuated due to concerns of house flooding to offer consolation.
The county issued an emergency duty order for all staff starting at 7 a.m. on the 6th, focusing all efforts on on-site inspections and flood damage recovery.
Since the 5th, continuous heavy rain has recorded an average of 213mm (with a maximum of 390mm in Bukil-myeon) and a maximum hourly rainfall of 110mm.
Due to the heavy rain, a house near Daheungsa Temple in Samsan-myeon was flooded early on the 6th, resulting in the death of a 69-year-old woman, Park (female). Three family members living with her, including her daughter and grandson, were rescued and are currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
So far, in Haenam County, about 40 disaster victims have occurred due to house flooding in Haenam-eup, Hyeonsan-myeon, and Bukpyeong-myeon, and they have evacuated to village halls. As the rain continues until the morning, rapid evacuation and damage support are being provided according to the situation in each town and township.
As of 7:30 a.m. on the 6th, it is confirmed that 3,529 hectares of farmland have been flooded, and roads and houses in Haenam-eup, Samsan-myeon, and Hyeonsan-myeon have been submerged, causing road closures and other damages in various locations.
Governor Myeong said, "I ask the residents to refrain from excessive farming activities and to pay attention to typhoon-related weather updates through broadcasts or disaster messages to prevent any damage."
