View original image[Jangheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Jangheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Jeong Jong-sun) announced on the 6th that it released 250,000 black porgy fry on the 2nd to create a habitat for black porgy and protect the ecosystem.
The black porgy fry release event, held at Naejeo Village in Daedeok-eup and other locations, was organized by the Jangheung-gun Tamjin River Fisheries Research Center, with the attendance of the Jangheung-gun governor, county council members, and residents of the relevant fishing village.
The event was conducted in compliance with COVID-19 prevention guidelines despite the heat, and residents stayed until all the fry in the live fish truck tanks were released.
Kim Sang-ryeol, head of the Naejeo Fishing Village Association, said, “Fishermen are facing many difficulties due to COVID-19,” and added, “We hope that the black porgy released into the sea this time will return as a joy to the fishermen.”

Governor Jeong Jong-sun said, “Our county releases black porgy, a sedentary fish species, annually into the clean fishing grounds of Jangheung-gun waters. The number of anglers seeking black porgy is increasing day by day, which leads to an increase in local tourism income,” and added, “This release will also help increase the long-term income of local fishermen and residents.”
