Government: Reports on Negotiations for Domestic Production of 1 Billion Doses of Pfizer and Moderna Vaccines Are Not True
[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jung] The government has denied foreign media reports claiming that South Korea is negotiating domestic production of 1 billion doses of vaccines with Pfizer and Moderna.
On the 5th, the Ministry of Health and Welfare stated in a press release, "The foreign media report that the Korean government is negotiating domestic production of 1 billion doses of vaccines with Pfizer and Moderna is not true."
The ministry explained, "Vaccine production contracts are matters for negotiations between companies," and added, "In a foreign media interview, the Director of the Health Industry Policy Bureau explained that South Korea has secured the capacity to produce more than 1 billion doses of messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) vaccines."
