Minister Lim Hye-sook: "A dedicated OTT ministry is necessary... Ministry of Science and ICT should take the lead"
First Press Conference Held Five Days After Inauguration
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] "In the future, it is appropriate for the Ministry of Science and ICT to take the lead in promoting the digital media-related industry, such as Over-The-Top (OTT) services, with the industry and other ministries driving the direction."
On the morning of the 5th, Minister Lim Hye-sook of the Ministry of Science and ICT held her first press briefing since taking office at the Sejong City government office and responded to questions regarding the reorganization direction of ministries related to OTT.
Minister Lim explained, "Regarding digital media, several ministries are involved, including the Korea Communications Commission, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Ministry of Science and ICT," adding, "Since it is an ICT-related industry, a main ministry is definitely necessary."

She further added, "Currently, bills have been proposed and there are promotion strategies in place," and "We will strive to further develop digital media."
