[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jucheol In] On the first weekend of July in Busan, strong winds exceeding 24 m/s accompanied by rain due to the influence of the monsoon front caused continuous damage to various facilities.
According to the Busan Fire and Disaster Headquarters and Busan Police Agency on the 4th, at 12:18 a.m., a glass window on the 3rd floor of an apartment in Munhyeon-dong, Nam-gu, was broken. There were no casualties. Around 3 a.m., a report was received from an apartment in Daeyeon-dong, Nam-gu, stating "the window seems like it will break," and safety measures were taken.
Additionally, at 6:23 a.m., a trampoline installed on the rooftop of a 4-story building in Yeongdo-gu was blown off by the strong wind and fell to the 1st floor, causing wind damage in various parts of Busan.
Around the same time, a commuter bus driving on a rainy road near Guseo IC on Beonyeong-ro of the Busan Urban Expressway suddenly overturned to the left. As a result of this accident, the driver, a man in his 70s, was seriously injured and transported to the hospital, and one passenger, a man in his 40s, sustained minor injuries.
The police are investigating the exact circumstances, believing the accident occurred due to the vehicle slipping on the wet road.
Overnight, the accumulated rainfall in most areas of Busan exceeded 100 mm, and the maximum instantaneous wind speed in Seo-gu reached 24.6 m/s.
As of the morning of the 4th, access to Sebyeonggyo, Yeonangyo, and Suyeongyo bridges around Oncheoncheon, an urban stream, is restricted, and container truck traffic on Namhang Bridge has been restricted since 4:30 a.m.
