[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol held a dinner meeting with Jeju Province Governor Won Hee-ryong on the 2nd to discuss the political situation and regime change. This is the first time that former Prosecutor General Yoon has met with a presidential candidate from the People Power Party.
Yoon's spokesperson office stated in a notice sent to reporters on the morning of the 3rd, "On the evening of the 2nd, former Prosecutor General Yoon met with Governor Won and exchanged opinions on a wide range of issues including the political situation," adding, "They agreed to work together so that the opposition can definitely win the presidential election next year, honoring the people's desire for regime change."
A representative from Governor Won's side also explained, "Governor Won received a contact from former Prosecutor General Yoon a few days ago asking to meet, and he agreed to it," adding, "The two discussed various issues in our society such as the rule of law, fairness, and economic problems, and exchanged opinions on various issues under the goal of regime change."
Regarding this meeting, it was conveyed that "Although the two are alumni of the same school and Judicial Research and Training Institute, this was their first meeting, and they mainly talked about personal matters and backgrounds." Former Prosecutor General Yoon is three years senior to Governor Won at Seoul National University Law School and a senior by one class at the Judicial Research and Training Institute.
Former Prosecutor General Yoon and Governor Won had dinner the previous day at a restaurant in Gwanghwamun, Seoul. It was reported that Lee Seok-jun, former head of the Office for Government Policy Coordination and policy officer for Yoon, and Kim Sang-hyeop, director of the Jeju Research Institute from Governor Won's side, also attended the meeting.
