Song Joong-ki, Conflict with Residents over New Building Construction... "Conceded Part of Private Land, Established Restoration Plan"
Yongsan District Office Also Sends Official Letter Requesting Administrative Correction
[Asia Economy Online Issue Team] Actor Song Joong-ki has been involved in conflicts with neighbors over noise and safety issues arising during construction work, and Song Joong-ki's side has expressed their intention to find a solution to resolve the matter.
According to multiple media reports on the 2nd, Song Joong-ki's agency HiStory D&C stated, "We are aware of complaints from nearby residents regarding the road paving work underway in a residential area of Itaewon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul," and added, "After receiving a correction order, we reviewed the situation and formulated a restoration plan."
They further explained, "Some of the private land purchased by Song Joong-ki was previously used as a road, and we are currently designing and constructing including that area. However, after receiving complaints about the inconvenience caused by restricted vehicle passing, we conceded to allow part of the private land to be used as a road."
Regarding concerns that the construction has created slopes on some roads, potentially causing safety issues, they emphasized, "We will correct this to minimize inconvenience as much as possible."
According to SBS on the same day, Song Joong-ki has been carrying out construction to build his own building on land he purchased in Itaewon-dong since last year.
However, nearby residents have expressed discomfort, citing noise and safety problems caused by the construction. It is also reported that Yongsan District Office sent an official letter requesting corrective action.
The biggest issue raised by residents is the road paving work. In December last year, the construction company in charge of the housing project altered a relatively flat road into a slope, making the narrow road steeper and difficult for vehicles to pass.
On the 15th of last month, it was reported that a truck carrying cargo slipped backward while trying to ascend this road.
