Kim Kyung-yul and Kim So-yeon Leave Ruling Party's Public Interviewers, Kim Hae-young Says "Will Ask Clearly on Behalf of the People"
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] Former Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Hae-young announced, "On the 4th, I will serve as an interviewer for the presidential primary planning group's 'National Interview' and ask the Democratic Party presidential candidates straightforward questions."
On the 2nd, Kim told Asia Economy in a phone interview, "I will listen to the agendas of those participating in next year's presidential primary and ask the candidates the questions that need to be asked clearly." When asked specifically what questions he would pose, he only said, "I am still planning."
With accountant Kim Kyung-yul and Newnik CEO Kim So-yeon, who were initially recruited as national interviewers, stepping down midway, Kim is now the only one among the originally selected three interviewers to face the nine ruling party presidential primary candidates.
The day before, the presidential primary planning group set the primary concept as "presidential job seekers," where each candidate was scheduled to be interviewed by three national interviewers, including Kim, accountant Kim, and CEO Kim. In particular, they aimed to boost interest by appointing interviewers who had been critical of the government and ruling party. The appointment of accountant Kim, co-author of the "Cho Kuk Black Book," and former lawmaker Kim, known as "Mr. Bitter Words" for his role as a moderate faction member in the 20th National Assembly, was for this reason. CEO Kim, a 1994-born entrepreneur from the 20s generation, was recruited with the expectation of bringing a fresh external perspective.
However, accountant Kim withdrew two hours after being appointed due to internal party opposition, and CEO Kim resigned citing personal reasons. As a result, Kim is the only one among the three national interviewers originally recruited by the primary planning group to proceed with the interviews as planned.
