Daejeon City Strengthens Care for Vulnerable Groups... Recruiting Participants for Emotional Support Program
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City announced on the 2nd that it will recruit participants for the ‘Emotional Support Project for Vulnerable Groups through Companion Plants’ from the 5th to the 7th.
The total number of recruits is 21, and applications are accepted by visiting the Civil Service Reception Room on the 1st floor of Daejeon City Hall.
Applicants must be women aged between 50 and 65 as of the announcement date, and their residence must be in Daejeon. Preference is given to those with more than one year of experience in the horticulture field.
The emotional support team will operate on an 8-hour per day, 5-day per week work schedule and will receive the Daejeon living wage (hourly wage of 10,202 KRW).
Introduced this year, this project is promoted as part of the Daejeon-type public job program. The project involves the emotional support team visiting about 200 vulnerable households, including elderly living alone, to strengthen care by checking on their well-being through activities such as growing companion plants and providing companionship.

Ko Hyun-deok, Director of the City’s Job and Economy Bureau, said, “The Daejeon-type public job program will serve as a stepping stone to restore daily life to pre-COVID-19 conditions,” adding, “The city will continue to strive to create more jobs led by the public sector.”
