Domestic Stock Market Starts Higher; KOSDAQ Hits New High... Driving Force Behind Individual Net Buying
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] On the 2nd, the domestic stock market started on an upward trend. After the KOSDAQ index hit a new high the previous day, it continued to rise again today, showing strong performance.
The KOSPI opened at 3,282.81 points, up 0.75 points (0.02%). The KOSDAQ opened at 1,036.28 points, up 0.64 points (0.06%). As of 9:16 AM, the KOSPI is at 3,287.13, up 0.15%, and the KOSDAQ is at 1,036.40, up 0.975 points.
Only individual investors are net buyers. Individuals have purchased about 19.7 billion KRW in the KOSPI market and about 85.1 billion KRW in the KOSDAQ market. Foreign investors show a buying preference of 45.6 billion KRW in the KOSPI market but sold 78.1 billion KRW in the KOSDAQ market. Institutions are net sellers in both markets, recording net sales of 64.8 billion KRW and 9.3 billion KRW respectively.
By sector in the KOSPI, machinery (+0.77%), chemicals (+0.17%), and medical precision (+0.17%) are showing strength, while textiles and apparel (-0.32%), electrical and electronics (-0.09%), and food and beverages (-0.05%) are declining.
