China: "Taiwan and Diaoyudao Are Our Territory"
[Asia Economy Reporter Joeslgina] The Chinese government declared that Taiwan and the Senkaku Islands (called Diaoyudao in Chinese), a territory disputed and effectively controlled by Japan, are part of its sovereign territory.
According to Yonhap News on the 1st, Wang Wenbin, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made this statement during a regular briefing when asked about foreign media reports that the United States and Japan have been conducting military exercises in preparation for potential clashes with China since the Donald Trump administration.
Spokesperson Wang said, "Taiwan, Diaoyudao, and its affiliated islands are inseparable parts of China's territory," adding, "No external pressure can shake the firm determination of the Chinese government and people to fully safeguard sovereignty and territorial integrity."
