Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Begins Investigation into Lee Jun-seok's 'Military Service Corruption Allegations' Complaint

According to the police on the 1st, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency assigned the case to the Anti-Corruption and Public Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency. The case was reported to the National Police Agency's National Investigation Headquarters by the pro-government organization Jeokpae Cheongsan Gukmin Chamyeo Yeondae on the 21st of last month, accusing Lee of violating the Military Service Act.
The organization claims that Lee's participation in the 'SW Maestro Program' hosted by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy in 2010 while serving as industrial technical personnel was illegal. The organization reported that Lee, from November 2007 to September 28, 2010, engaged in the activity in question, potentially violating the Military Service Act and the regulations on concurrent positions prohibiting professional research personnel and industrial technical personnel.

Lee explained on his social network service (SNS) last month, "The Military Manpower Administration confirmed 10 years ago that there was no problem, and the prosecution also reviewed it and found no issues," adding, "I applied and was accepted as a 'graduate' to the Military Manpower Administration and the Korea Information and Communication Industry Promotion Agency, received training, and accurately handled leave and outings."
