Chungnam Province announced on the 1st that designated beaches in the area will officially open on the 3rd.
Last year, the number of visitors to the west coast beaches decreased from 9.37 million in 2019 to 5.13 million (54.8%) due to the impact of COVID-19. However, this year, the province expects an increase in visitors due to the expansion of vaccination.
Accordingly, the province plans to operate until mid-next month (before the beaches close) by implementing quarantine measures such as safe call operation for each beach, distribution of temperature stickers and wristbands, congestion signal lights, advance reservation systems, operation of less crowded beaches, and prohibition of nighttime eating and drinking on shared waters (sandy beaches).
Under these quarantine measures, beach visitors must register their visit history via the safe call number and comply with basic quarantine rules such as maintaining a 2-meter distance and wearing masks.
In particular, the province plans to install and operate road quarantine stations at the main entrances of major beaches such as Daecheon, Muchangpo, Waemok, Chunjangdae, Mallipo, Kkotji, and Mongsanpo to check visitors’ body temperatures.
Additionally, from the opening day of the beaches, quarantine activities including on-site inspections and campaigns at Daecheon Beach will be conducted in cooperation with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.
