Yeo Won-wook: "KBS License Fee Increase Must Stop Here"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jin-young] Lee Won-wook, chairman of the National Assembly Science, Technology, Information and Broadcasting Communications Committee and member of the Democratic Party of Korea, said on the 30th, "KBS should stop pushing for the increase in the license fee here."
Amid KBS's board resolution to raise the license fee from the current 2,500 won per month to 3,800 won, Chairman Lee said on Facebook that "although they use the term 'adjustment plan,' it is ultimately an increase plan," adding, "It is a stance detached from the public sentiment."
Chairman Lee criticized, "While KBS has made efforts for management innovation and self-help, it is still insufficient for the public to feel the impact," and emphasized, "Restoring the image of a public broadcaster should be the priority."
