Yoo Seung-min: "Fair Economic Growth, Inclusive Economic Growth" Is the Spirit of the Times
"I Want to Be a President Who Persuades to Walk the Path of Reform Together"
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Yoo Seung-min, a former lawmaker and presidential candidate of the People Power Party, expressed concerns about former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol’s declaration of political participation being entirely conservative.
On the 30th, Yoo appeared on KBS Radio’s “Oh Tae-hoon’s Current Affairs Headquarters” and said, "I went to Pyeongtaek 2nd Fleet yesterday and saw the document of (former Prosecutor General Yoon’s political participation declaration) belatedly on my way back," adding, "I thought to myself, is he really this conservative? It was more conservative than I expected."
He said, "He (former Prosecutor General Yoon) mentioned freedom several times, but I have often said that the new conservatism should expand values based on the spirit of the Constitution," adding, "Our Constitution does not only have freedom, but also equality, fairness, justice, rule of law, human rights, life, and safety. So far, fake progressives have acted as if they monopolize these constitutional values, while our conservatives have been portrayed as people who only talk about freedom. I think that is wrong."
Yoo said, "Seeing former Prosecutor General Yoon’s basic philosophy and values emphasizing only freedom as traditional conservatives do, I felt regret that he might be neglecting fairness, justice, equality, and parts like human rights and life?areas where fake progressives have failed and where conservatives should broaden their horizons," adding, "The next president must demonstrate the ability and alternatives to solve issues like real estate and jobs, and I expect these aspects to be gradually shown."
He also introduced, "Fair economic growth, inclusive economic growth?that is the zeitgeist of this presidential election." In particular, Yoo said, "Law and procedural fairness are handled by judges and prosecutors," adding, "Most fairness issues lie in the economy, for example, discrimination between regular and irregular workers, issues between employed and unemployed, various discriminations within workplaces, asset inequality caused by insane housing prices and insane monthly rents, and everything including stocks, investments, and cryptocurrencies?all of these are economic."

Regarding fair growth, Yoo mentioned not only economic growth but also the painful process of reform. He emphasized that painful reforms are required to establish a distribution system that shares the fruits of growth. He stated, "I want to be a president who persuades the people that reforms such as labor reform are absolutely necessary for our economy and country to truly prosper."
