Assemblyman Kim Seung-nam Secures Total of 5.5 Billion KRW in Special Grants for Goheung, Boseong, Jangheung, and Gangjin
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Kim Seung-nam, a member of the National Assembly from the Democratic Party of Korea (Goheung·Boseong·Jangheung·Gangjin), announced on the 30th that he secured 5.5 billion KRW in special grants from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety in the first half of this year to resolve pending projects in the Jeonnam region.
The special grants secured by Assemblyman Kim include funding for nine projects: ▲ Construction of Bandabi (for the disabled) National Sports Center in Goheung County (500 million KRW) ▲ Construction of a pedestrian bridge to Namyang Udo in Goheung County (1 billion KRW) ▲ Development of Boseong Dahyang Isipri-gil in Boseong County (800 million KRW) ▲ Construction of the access road to Gunnong Port in Hoecheon-myeon, Boseong County (300 million KRW) ▲ Establishment of an integrated village security system in Boseong County (300 million KRW) ▲ Maintenance of the 30-ri trail along the Tamjin River and creation of a fine dust blocking forest path in Jangheung County (800 million KRW) ▲ Construction of the access bridge to Toyo Market in Jangheung County (500 million KRW) ▲ Construction of an urban planning road from Gangjin Hyanggyo to the Cultural Village in Gangjin County (700 million KRW) ▲ Construction of an urban planning road connecting Green Villa to Dongsung-ri roundabout in Gangjin County (600 million KRW).
With this special grant, Goheung County will build a National Sports Center for the disabled, providing venues for various events during next year’s National Sports Festival and National Para Games hosted by Jeonnam Province. The construction of the pedestrian bridge to Namyang Udo is expected to alleviate traffic inconveniences experienced by residents due to rising water levels on the tidal road between Namyang and Udo during high tide.
Boseong County will develop the Boseong Dahyang Isipri-gil, a long-standing local wish of residents in Boseong-eup, to build infrastructure for rural residents. Additionally, the construction of an access road to Gunnong Port in Hoecheon-myeon, which previously lacked an entry road and posed safety risks to fishermen and local residents, will improve living conditions for these communities.
Furthermore, the expansion of village security CCTV in areas previously vulnerable to crimes such as agricultural product theft due to poor CCTV management is expected to contribute to residents’ safety and quality of life.
Jangheung County will resolve traffic inconveniences for 20,000 residents by maintaining the 30-ri trail along the Tamjin River embankment and create a street forest path to block fine dust.
The construction of an access bridge to Toyo Market, which attracts 200,000 tourists annually, will enhance accessibility and transportation convenience. This is expected to establish a regional landmark representing Jangheung, build tourism infrastructure, and revitalize the local economy.
Gangjin County anticipates an increase in trainees and tourists due to the completion of Dasan Integrity Training Center in December 2019, restoration of Siuijae, and maintenance of the cherry blossom path at Geumgoksa Temple.
With this special grant, roads connecting Gangjin Hyanggyo to the Cultural Village and Green Villa to Dongsung-ri roundabout will be constructed to alleviate traffic congestion in Gangjin-eup. The expansion and widening of existing deteriorated roads will provide comfortable transportation facilities.
