Police Investigate Former Captain Choi Won-il Over Complaint Against Whimoon High School Teacher's 'Cheonan Ship Insult' Remarks
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Former Commander Choi Won-il, who filed a complaint against a teacher for making offensive remarks related to the Cheonan ship incident, was questioned by the police.
According to the police on the 30th, the Seongdong Police Station in Seoul summoned former Commander Choi in the morning for questioning as a complainant.
Former Commander Choi filed a complaint against Mr. A on the 14th for defamation and insult with the National Police Agency's National Investigation Headquarters, and the case was transferred to the Seongdong Police Station on the 22nd of this month.
After being questioned as a complainant, former Commander Choi told reporters, "I believe the teacher in question is unqualified to be a teacher, so I am requesting dismissal," expressing his intention not to show leniency. He also plans to visit Whimun High School in protest in mid-July, as they have not responded to the dismissal request.

Earlier, teacher Mr. A from Whimun High School posted on social media (SNS), "If you say the Cheonan ship was sunk by a torpedo, then the commander who should have been dismissed and exiled is a XX," using abusive language, and wrote, "What kind of honor is the Cheonan ship?" After the controversy, he deleted the post and issued two apologies.
