Gwangyang City Holds the 1st Kumho Jupging Ppopging DAY in Geumho-dong
Over 100 Participants Walk, Pick Up Trash, and Pull Weeds Throughout Kumho-dong!
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] On the 26th, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., the Geumho-dong Community Center in Gwangyang-si, Jeollanam-do, held the "1st Geumho Jupging Bopging DAY" at the Baegun Greenland parking lot, with various social organizations and Geumho-dong residents participating while adhering to social distancing and quarantine guidelines, the center announced on the 29th.
The campaign was attended by Kim Seong-su, head of Geumho-dong, Kim Gil-yong, member of the Jeollanam-do Provincial Council, Song Jae-cheon, member of the Gwangyang City Council, as well as social organizations including △Resident Autonomy Committee △Tongjang Council △Housing Complex Residents’ Representatives Meeting △Barugesalgi Movement Gwangyang City Council Geumho-dong Committee △Korean Women Consumers Union Gwangyang Branch △Saemaeul Women’s Association and Council △Geumho-dong Sports Association △Geumho Autonomous Crime Prevention Unit.
Participants walked through every corner, picking up trash and pulling weeds, successfully taking the first step in the "Geumho Jupging Bopging" campaign.
Additionally, the group "Geumho Village Environment Keepers," part of the Geumho-dong Village Community Activity Support Project, provided 56 discarded banners, and the group "With" provided 50 soaps to campaign participants, contributing not only to environmental protection but also to fostering a warm village community.
The "Geumho Jupging Bopging" campaign in Geumho-dong is a plogging activity that involves picking up trash while walking and pulling weeds from flower beds and sidewalks. Anyone can participate remotely at any time, making it an environmental cleanup activity that protects both health and the environment.
Geumho-dong offers volunteer hours to participants and plans to hold various prize events in the future.
"Geumho Jupging Bopging DAY" will not be a one-time event but will be held every last Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., operated with the participation of social organizations and residents who share the will to cultivate a beautiful village.
