1 Central Business District, 2 Sub-Central Business Districts, and 4 Regional Core Urban Spatial Structure Reorganization
[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Yangju City in Gyeonggi Province has completed an urban development roadmap that presents the basic direction for all plans and policies and the city's long-term development plan.
The city announced on the 29th that "the 'Yangju Urban Basic Plan 2035' with the target year 2035 has been finally approved by Gyeonggi Province."
According to the city, the 'Yangju Urban Basic Plan 2035' was established by reflecting higher-level plans from central government ministries such as the 5th National Comprehensive Plan, through meetings of the citizen planning group, public hearings, and reviews by the Gyeonggi Province Urban Planning Committee.
The four major goals of the Yangju Urban Basic Plan 2035 are a co-prosperous city where everyone lives well, a future growth city with a revitalized economy, a cultural welfare city enjoyed by all, and a clean and beautiful green tourism city.
Based on this, the city set the target population for 2035 at 504,000, reflecting the population influx from developments such as Yangju New Town and the Gwangseok District housing development project.
For future urban development, the city secured 29.92㎢ as planned urbanized land, designated the existing developed area of 33.99㎢ as urbanized land, and finalized the land use plan with the remaining 246.48㎢ as conservation land.
Major infrastructure plans include transportation plans such as the GTX-C line, extension of Subway Line 7, the suburban railway network called the Gyoeoseon, and the 2nd Capital Region Ring Expressway, as well as a BRT plan to revitalize public transportation.
Additionally, to respond to logistics demand in northern Gyeonggi and prepare for the era of inter-Korean exchange and cooperation, plans include the establishment of a complex logistics center in the Eunhyeon Hapaeri area.
Furthermore, the Yangju, Hoecheon, and Eunnam living zones will be developed as a "Northern Gyeonggi hub-type convergence advanced city" with residential, administrative, transportation, advanced industry, and cultural welfare functions, while the Gwangbaek and Jangheung living zones will be developed as an "eco-friendly, future-oriented complex city based on ecological foundations" focusing on residential, cultural, and tourism functions.
