Gwangjin District Residents Collecting 30 Transparent PET Bottles Exchange for One 10ℓ Volume-Based Waste Bag
Gwangjin-gu Operates 'Recycling Direct Trade DAY' Every Week on Transparent PET Bottle Disposal Day... Paper Pack and Used Battery Exchange Programs Also Run Together
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) will operate a ‘Recycling Direct Transaction DAY’ every week on the designated transparent PET bottle disposal day until December.
This project was prepared to promote residents' participation in separate disposal and to encourage early establishment of the system, as separate disposal of transparent PET bottles will be fully implemented for detached houses and others starting this December.
To participate, residents can collect transparent PET bottles and bring them to the local community center on the designated disposal day, where they can exchange 30 PET bottles for one 10ℓ volume-based waste bag.
The designated transparent PET bottle disposal days by neighborhood are Thursdays for Junggok 1·2-dong, Guui 2-dong, Gwangjang-dong, Jayang 1·2-dong, Hwayang-dong, and three other neighborhoods, and Fridays for Junggok 3·4-dong, Guui 1·3-dong, Neung-dong, Jayang 3·4-dong, Gunja-dong, and four other neighborhoods.
To encourage continuous participation, the district provides two additional 10ℓ volume-based waste bags every 5 times a resident participates, a can and PET bottle crusher upon 7 cumulative participations, and a folding cart for those participating 20 times or more.
Additionally, the district operates a program where residents who bring 1kg of paper packs on the transparent PET bottle disposal day can exchange them for one roll of toilet paper and one 10ℓ volume-based waste bag, and those who bring 20 used batteries can exchange them for two new batteries.
