[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters] Reporter Ijeon Seong=Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Junsung) is accelerating preparations for the '60th Jeonnam Sports Festival.'
The county recently held the '60th Jeonnam Sports Festival Executive Committee Meeting' in accordance with the newly applied social distancing revision plan to discuss the scale of the opening and closing ceremonies and competition plans, it announced on the 28th.
The county reviewed ways for residents to participate in the sports festival while strengthening COVID-19 quarantine management systems.
At the meeting, the event scale was set within the scope of quarantine rules, and pre-ceremony performances and commemorative ceremonies were planned to encourage the athletes and create a festive atmosphere.
Additionally, discussions were held on overall event operations, including promotional plans, inspection of competition venue facilities, and reservation management for athlete accommodations and restaurants.
In particular, even if the relaxed social distancing stages are applied, the requirements for entry to the competition venues will be strengthened, with stricter quarantine management such as vaccine verification and restrictions on athlete movement routes.
About 80 days before the event, the county installed a D-day counter for the sports festival at the county office entrance to promote the event internally and externally, and plans to launch the sports festival website next month to provide related information.
The 60th Jeollanam-do Sports Festival will be held from September 13 to 16 at various venues including Yeonggwang Sportium, with about 6,000 participants including athletes and officials from 22 cities and counties.
