The contest was held as part of an agreement promising continuous mutual cooperation between Starbucks, Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled, and Seoul National University Dental Hospital, with the goal of realizing social value to improve awareness of people with disabilities and promote employment expansion.
A total of 224 works were submitted to the contest, and through a diverse expert judging process, 18 winners were selected: 1 Grand Prize, 2 Gold Prizes, 5 Silver Prizes, and 10 Bronze Prizes. The Grand Prize winner received a prize of 3 million KRW, each Gold Prize winner received 1 million KRW, each Silver Prize winner received 500,000 KRW, and each Bronze Prize winner received 100,000 KRW.
The winning works will be exhibited in front of the Starbucks Seoul National University Dental Hospital store for public viewing until the 30th, and in December of this year, the exhibition will continue at the Starlight Art Museum in the Starbucks Gwacheon DT store.
The Grand Prize was awarded to Song Jonggu’s work titled “Eoullim.” Eoullim is a collage piece created by cutting and connecting small drawings that observed the clothing of friends attending special schools and welfare centers. It expresses a world where different clothes are connected side by side on a clothesline as one line, symbolizing that although appearances and shapes differ, everyone keeps their place side by side on one line, recognizing each other’s diversity and harmonizing together.
The Gold Prizes were awarded to Jeong Sejin’s “You and My Eoullim,” which depicts various people coming together through the place called a cafe, and Yoon Jinseok’s “A Happy World Living with Nature,” which expresses a world united with beautiful nature.
