Tesla remotely recalls 280,000 vehicles in China due to software defect
[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] Tesla has decided to remotely recall approximately 285,000 vehicles in China due to a software defect.
On the 26th (local time), according to major foreign media including AFP, the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) of China announced yesterday that Tesla will begin the remote recall from today. This refers to remotely updating the software by contacting owners without physically retrieving the affected vehicles.
SAMR explained, "this is due to a recent issue found in the 'Cruise Control' system of some Tesla Model 3 and Model Y vehicles," adding, "if the driver accidentally activates the cruise control function, the vehicle may experience sudden unintended acceleration." This raises the possibility of collision accidents.
