Dong-Eui University secured first place in the men's sabre individual and team events and third place in the women's team event at the 50th President's Cup National Men's and Women's Fencing Championships held from June 18 to 25 at the Useul Gymnasium in Haenam, Jeonnam.
Do Kyung-dong (Physical Education, 4th year), a former national representative under 25, defeated Kim Jae-won of Daejeon University 15-11 in the men's sabre individual final to claim the throne. By achieving back-to-back championships, he confirmed his position as the strongest in college fencing.
In the men's team event, Dong-Eui University’s Do Kyung-dong, Bae Kyung-rok (Physical Education, 4th year), Jung Hee-sung (Leisure Sports, 3rd year), and Kim Ji-won (Physical Education, 2nd year) advanced to the finals by defeating Korea National Sport University 45-40 in the semifinals and comfortably beat Daejeon University 45-23 to win the championship.
Do Kyung-dong became a two-time champion by winning both the individual and team events.
In the women's sabre college team event, Dong-Eui University’s Im Hye-rim, Kim Ji-woo (Physical Education, 3rd year), Kim Se-bin, and Lee Da-eun (Leisure Sports, 1st year) reached the semifinals but had to forfeit due to an injury during the match, finishing in third place.
