[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City, Gyeongnam, held the '71st Anniversary of the Korean War Meritorious Service Commendation Ceremony' on the 25th at the Jinju City Hall Citizen Hall, awarding commendations to 9 national meritorious persons.
At the ceremony, in addition to the 9 veterans, a ceremony was held to present the Hwarang Medal posthumously to the late Corporal Je Jae-ho (7th Guard Battalion) and the late Corporal Park Myung-jong (5th Division), who were subjects of the Ministry of National Defense and the Army's ongoing project 'Finding the Korean War Meritorious Service Medals' to honor those who made contributions during the Korean War but were not previously recognized.
This year's Korean War commemoration event, scaled down due to COVID-19, was organized to express gratitude to the Korean War veterans and meritorious persons of veterans' organizations who sacrificed and devoted themselves for the country and the nation.
