Incheon Namdong-gu Completes 'Saemal Small Park' After 50 Years... First Long-Term Unexecuted Park Established
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] A park site in Namdong-gu, Incheon, which had been neglected for decades, has been reborn as a healing space for residents.
Namdong-gu, Incheon, held a completion ceremony for Saemal Small Park in Ganseok 3-dong on the 24th. It is the first park completed among the three long-term unexecuted park development projects promoted by Namdong-gu this year.
This site had not been developed into a park for over 50 years, and for a long time, issues such as forest and landscape damage and noise pollution were raised due to illegal buildings and unauthorized waste dumping.
In response, the district collaborated with residents to secure 1.405 billion KRW from the 2019 Incheon City Resident Participation Budget and recently completed the park development.
Considering the small area of 4,253㎡ and the steep slopes, Saemal Small Park was developed focusing on a circular walking trail, and to specialize the park, a rock garden and a four-season flower garden were created. The flower garden consists of flowers with different blooming periods, allowing visitors to see flowers bloom and wither by season, and QR codes were inserted on the tree nameplates.
Additionally, smart benches with smartphone wireless and wired charging capabilities were installed, and an interactive emergency bell, a safety facility, was set up at the park entrance.
