"Do You Know Who My Dad Is?"... KTX Makmalnyeo Not Prosecuted
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] A woman in her 20s who was booked on charges of verbally abusing another passenger while eating a hamburger without wearing a mask on a KTX train last February has reportedly been cleared of prosecution. At the time, the woman shouted, "What does it matter? Do you know who my father is?"
According to the legal community on the 25th, the Uijeongbu District Prosecutors' Office recently decided not to prosecute Ms. A, who was booked on charges of insult. This was because the victim withdrew the complaint, stating that they did not want punishment. Insult is a quasi-offense, meaning the perpetrator cannot be punished if the victim does not wish to proceed.
On February 28, the woman was eating a hamburger with her mask off on a KTX train heading from Pohang, Gyeongbuk to Seoul, and verbally abused a passenger who tried to stop her. Eating food on the KTX is a violation of COVID-19 quarantine rules.

At the time, when the woman was protested with comments like "Isn't this too much for a public transportation facility?" she responded with abusive language such as "What does it matter if I eat here or not? Do you know who my father is?" Although the woman later apologized to the passenger, Korail viewed the matter as a violation of quarantine laws and filed a complaint.
