View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Jang Seok-woong, Superintendent of Education for Jeonnam, presented the ‘5 Core Tasks’ on the 24th, stating, “We will open a solid future for sustainable Jeonnam education through change and innovation so that it can shine continuously without interruption in any crisis.”
On this day, Superintendent Jang Seok-woong held a press conference marking his 3rd anniversary in office and presented ▲ resolving learning gaps and strengthening customized career and vocational education ▲ establishing an integrated childcare system for children and recovering student health ▲ fostering creative convergence talents for the digital society ▲ nurturing Jeonnam-style future schools ▲ building a regional education ecosystem in preparation for decentralization and autonomy.
Superintendent Jang stated, “We plan to focus on expanding the placement of teachers dedicated to basic academic skills, expanding the operation of AI online home tutors, advancing JeonnamClassON.com 2.0, and early establishment of a Jeonnam-style public learning platform.” He added, “In cooperation with local governments, we will expand community-centered integrated care such as school care centers and promote health recovery projects to support the holistic growth of students.”
He added, “We will introduce creative convergence-type future education curricula in all schools in Jeonnam, expand choice-based curricula in preparation for the high school credit system, and expand creative convergence education centers to all cities and counties by 2023.”
He continued, “We plan to create future schools suited to Jeonnam’s circumstances, such as specialized small schools, future-type integrated operation schools, future-type innovation schools, and green smart future schools, and also plan to expand the rural study-abroad program.” He emphasized, “We will expand future-type educational autonomy cooperation districts and pilot operate innovative education support offices where education support offices will have autonomy over personnel and budget management and support up to high schools.”
He repeatedly emphasized, “Since taking office, I have held the belief that ‘all students are precious and special, and have the right to be happy,’ and have worked for bold changes in Jeonnam education.”
He cited as achievements ▲ expansion of proactive educational welfare ▲ innovation in classroom teaching and customized career and college guidance ▲ establishment of a foundation for future education ▲ building a foundation for public-private-academic governance.
