Nam Yong-seok, CEO of CoGen Biotech, Honored with Industrial Medal at 'Seoul Small Businessperson Awards'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] At this year's 'Seoul Small and Medium Business (SMB) Entrepreneurs Conference,' Nam Yong-seok, CEO of CoGen Biotech, received the Industrial Medal in recognition of his contributions to the development and export of COVID-19 diagnostic kits.
The Seoul Regional Headquarters of the Korea Federation of SMEs held the '2021 Seoul SMB Entrepreneurs Conference' on the 24th at the SMB DMC Tower in Sangam-dong, with about 100 SMB entrepreneurs attending, including Kim Young-shin, head of the Seoul Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Administration.
Now in its 32nd year, the SMB Entrepreneurs Conference is the largest event in the SMB sector that awards and encourages entrepreneurs who have contributed to national economic development and job creation.
This year, under the theme "The Power of Turning Crisis into Opportunity! Small and Medium Businesses," the event was held with minimized attendance and compliance with quarantine rules such as mask-wearing, considering the COVID-19 situation.
Nam Yong-seok, CEO of CoGen Biotech, received the highest honor of the event, the Industrial Medal.
CEO Nam developed the country's first COVID-19 diagnostic kit to receive 'Emergency Use Authorization,' establishing a quarantine system. He was also recognized for his contribution to preventing the spread of COVID-19 by exporting diagnostic kits to over 50 countries worldwide.
In addition, among the SMB contributors, 4 received Presidential Awards, 7 Prime Minister Awards, 54 Minister of SMEs and Startups Awards, 3 Minister of Economy and Finance Awards, 1 Minister of National Defense Award, 2 Minister of Employment and Labor Awards, and 62 Chairman of the Federation Awards, all recognized for their contributions to the national and regional economy.
