"Our Neighborhood Village Project Chosen by Residents"... Gangbuk-gu Holds Residents' Assembly
Concurrent Online and On-site Voting to Decide Village Agenda Priorities and Approval... Resident General Meetings in 5 Districts from August 26 to September 3
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Gyeom-su) will hold the '2021 1st Residents' General Assembly' organized by the neighborhood residents' autonomous associations until September.
The Residents' General Assembly is a place where residents directly propose neighborhood issues and autonomy plans, discuss them together, and decide through voting.
The final selected autonomy plans will be implemented as projects for the next year by the neighborhood residents' autonomous associations.
This assembly will be held in five neighborhoods where the neighborhood residents' autonomous associations were launched the year before last. Samgaksan-dong, Beon 3-dong, and Insu-dong will hold theirs on the 26th, Suyu 2-dong on July 3rd, and Mia-dong on September 3rd. Voting locations, periods, and methods vary by neighborhood.
Residents' voting is open to anyone aged 18 or older. If more than 0.5% of residents participate, and more than half of the attendees agree, the priority or approval of the agenda will be decided. However, Insu-dong has set voting eligibility from age 12 based on 'Korean age.'
The agenda items include proposals to support residents' autonomous activities and neighborhood-level citizen participatory budgets.
Agenda decisions are made through preliminary and main voting, with both face-to-face and non-face-to-face methods combined. Residents can access via the QR code on promotional materials or visit the locations designated by each neighborhood residents' autonomous association to vote for approval or priority.
Detailed information can be found on the Gangbuk-gu Village Autonomy Center website and the respective neighborhood residents' autonomous associations.
