In the Era of 50km Speed Limits, Interest Grows in Fuel-Efficient Toyota Hybrids
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] As the speed limit for vehicles on general roads has been lowered to within 50 km/h, consumer interest in 'fuel efficiency' has increased.
A representative car with good fuel efficiency is the hybrid model. Among them, Toyota is a company with strong competitiveness in hybrid vehicles. Last year, 88% of Toyota brand sales in Korea were hybrid models.
Toyota Motor Corporation introduced its first hybrid model at the 1977 Tokyo Motor Show and launched the world's first mass-produced model, the 1st generation Prius, in 1997. Since then, hybrid systems have been installed in various models such as sports utility vehicles (SUVs), rear-wheel-drive sedans, hatchbacks, and commercial vehicles.
The 4th generation completely redesigned New Sienna Hybrid, released on April 13, is gaining popularity with the development keywords 'BOLD & SPACIOUS.'
The Sienna Hybrid maintains the practicality and comfort, which are the core values of minivans, while realizing a strong and dynamic exterior design like a large SUV and a spacious interior.
The New Sienna Hybrid, released in two models: front-wheel drive (2WD) and all-wheel drive (AWD), is equipped with a hybrid system combining a 2.5L gasoline engine and an electric motor, achieving a total system output of 246 horsepower and fuel efficiency of 14.5 km/L for 2WD and 13.7 km/L for AWD based on combined mileage standards.
Following this, Toyota launched the 2022 New Camry, a facelift model of the 8th generation Camry, on the 18th of last month. It is characterized by strengthening the electrified lineup by adding the Camry Hybrid XSE trim.
