Oh Se-hoon "New leadership's pleasant innovation raises public expectations... Please support city administration"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 22nd, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon held a meeting with Lee Jun-seok, the newly appointed leader of the People Power Party, at Seoul City Hall and had a friendly talk about future cooperation directions. This was their first public face-to-face meeting.
At the meeting, Mayor Oh said, "Since the new leadership was born, there has been much expectation and interest in what changes will take place, and some have viewed it with concern," adding, "I am truly pleased as a member of the party that these changes can bring a refreshing breakthrough and a new image, giving the public new hope." This meeting was arranged at the request of the People Power Party.
He continued, "There are many tasks to be handled going forward, and we will need the National Assembly's help on several matters," adding, "Please help Seoul's administration regain stability quickly so it can move forward again."
In response, Lee stated that he would strengthen cooperation with local governments to support livelihood issues. He emphasized, "The level of cooperation between Seoul City and the party this time is probably the highest ever," and "I believe the success of Seoul's administration is the first key to our presidential election."
Lee also said, "If Mayor Oh leads the city well and instills the perception that the world will change once the People Power Party takes power, we can win the presidential election," adding, "We will listen to opinions and proceed with consultations on various policies you are working hard on, especially legislative support needed for real estate and tax policies."
Earlier, during the People Power Party leadership election, Mayor Oh expressed his expectations for Lee several times through social network services (SNS). Especially after Lee's election, he congratulated him, saying, "It started with a fresh breeze, and that breeze was refreshing," and "It felt like the 4.7 by-election was replayed." Lee served as the head of the New Media Headquarters for Oh Se-hoon's Seoul mayoral campaign during the April 7 Seoul mayoral by-election.
Attending the meeting were Supreme Council members Jo Soo-jin, Bae Hyun-jin, and Jung Mi-kyung; Park Sung-joong, Chairman of the Seoul City Party Committee; Hwang Bo-seung-hee, the party's chief spokesperson; Seo Beom-su, Secretary to the Party Leader; and Kim Cheol-geun, Political Affairs Officer to the Party Leader.
