The Korea Firefighters Mutual Aid Association is a welfare organization established in 1984 to stabilize the lives and improve the welfare of firefighters. Since 2018, Dongkuk Steel has donated approximately 200 million KRW annually to the association for four consecutive years. To date, a total of about 780 million KRW in scholarships has been awarded to 1,360 children of firefighters.
The Korea Firefighters Mutual Aid Association plans to accumulate the scholarship funds donated by Dongkuk Steel as a fund and use the fund’s earnings to provide scholarships to university student children of firefighters selected through regional headquarters nationwide.
In addition, Dongkuk Steel plans to offer a ‘mentoring program’ during school vacations for scholarship recipients, allowing them to tour Dongkuk Steel’s business sites and explore career paths together with employees, in support of firefighter families who have worked tirelessly and sacrificed on the frontlines of COVID-19 response.
