"Yoon Seok-yeol X-File" Sparks United Opposition Claiming "Typical Political Conspiracy" (Comprehensive)
[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Boryeong] The opposition parties raised their voices of criticism toward the ruling party, calling the so-called 'X-file' related to former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol a 'political operation.' Along with this, Ahn Cheol-soo, leader of the People’s Party, and Lee Jun-seok, leader of the People Power Party, demanded, "Release the file."
At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly on the 21st, Leader Ahn stated, "Song Young-gil, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, who mentioned the X-file, should immediately disclose the files held by both the ruling party and himself."
Leader Ahn continued, "The concerned party should provide an explanation, and the public and the media should verify the facts. Depending on the results, if there are falsehoods or exaggerations in the contents disclosed by Leader Song, he must take political and legal responsibility. Former Prosecutor General Yoon should also explain the file contents based on facts and act responsibly according to the results," he emphasized.
The X-file, known to summarize suspicions related to former Prosecutor General Yoon, became controversial after Leader Song said last month, "I am steadily preparing files on numerous cases related to (former Prosecutor General Yoon)." Recently, Jang Seong-cheol, director of the Gonggam and Nonjaeng Policy Center and a conservative political commentator, reportedly obtained the file, attracting attention.
Leader Ahn criticized, "The ruling party leader’s remarks cannot dispel the reasonable suspicion that they aim to block and tarnish the political movements of opposition presidential candidates. When someone lights a fire and creates a smell, and political figures fan the smell to spread it, that is a typical example of political manipulation."
Lee Jun-seok, leader of the People Power Party, also said at the Supreme Council meeting that day, "Verification of a leading presidential candidate is necessary, but the X-file, which is circulated without content, causes public fatigue and irritation. Those who know the contents of the X-file should hand over any criminal matters to investigative agencies, and if it concerns moral condemnation, disclose it and be evaluated. Otherwise, it can only be defined as close to political manipulation."
Kim Ki-hyun, floor leader of the People Power Party, strongly criticized on Facebook, "As the presidential election turns unfavorable for the ruling party, suddenly the shadow of a sinister election operation has begun to loom. It seems like the start of the notorious conman Kim Dae-up Season 2."
