S-OIL Delivers Condolence Money to Families of Firefighters Who Died in Coupang Logistics Center Fire
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] S-OIL announced on the 21st that it will provide 30 million KRW in condolence money to the family of the late Fire Lieutenant Kim Dong-sik of the Gwangju Fire Station in Gyeonggi Province, who died in the line of duty at the Coupang Logistics Center fire site located in Majang-myeon, Icheon-si, Gyeonggi Province.
The late Fire Lieutenant Kim Dong-sik (52 years old, 119 Rescue Team, Gwangju Fire Station, Gyeonggi Province) was dispatched with four other 119 rescue team members on the morning of the 17th around 11 a.m. to extinguish the fire and rescue people at the Coupang Logistics Center located in Deokpyeong-ri, Majang-myeon, Icheon-si, Gyeonggi Province. Suddenly, combustible materials on the shelves collapsed, causing rapid flames and smoke. While the four rescue team members evacuated, the late lieutenant was unable to get out in time and went missing. Around 11 a.m. on the 19th, the search and rescue team found the deceased missing person and transported him to Icheon Hospital.
An S-OIL official stated, "We pray for the soul of the late Fire Lieutenant Kim Dong-sik, who always put the safety and lives of the people first in urgent situations and devoted himself to protecting them, and we hope this small support will help his family overcome their grief and live stably."
