Jaguar Land Rover Launches Family SUV 'New Discovery'
Application of MHEV Technology... Enhancing Eco-Friendliness with Improved Fuel Efficiency and Reduced Emissions
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Jaguar Land Rover Korea announced on the 21st the launch of the premium 7-seater family sport utility vehicle (SUV), the Land Rover New Discovery.
The facelifted New Discovery is equipped with Ingenium 3.0ℓ I6 diesel and gasoline engines featuring Mild Hybrid (MHEV) technology, delivering powerful performance and efficiency. It also incorporates the state-of-the-art infotainment system PIVI Pro, with refreshed design and convenience features, significantly enhancing its marketability.
The exterior of the New Discovery features new designs applied to the rear lamps, lower front and rear bumpers, air intakes, grille, wheels, and side vents, creating a robust yet sophisticated atmosphere. Inside, it is equipped with an 11.4-inch full HD touchscreen, illuminated buttons, and a toggle-type gear selector. The new second-row seats are ergonomically designed to enhance stability and provide a comfortable seating experience.
Additionally, the Ingenium 3.0ℓ I6 diesel engine, designed with lightweight aluminum, incorporates MHEV technology that recovers energy generated during braking to support engine operation. This results in improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions.
The New Discovery D250, equipped with the Ingenium 3.0ℓ I6 diesel engine, delivers a maximum output of 249 horsepower and a peak torque of 58.1 kg·m, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds. The D300 model produces a maximum output of 300 horsepower and a peak torque of 66.3 kg·m, reaching 100 km/h from a standstill in 6.8 seconds.
The P360 model, fitted with the Ingenium 3.0ℓ I6 gasoline engine, also features MHEV technology and offers excellent performance with a maximum output of 360 horsepower, peak torque of 51 kg·m, and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds.
Furthermore, the New Discovery is equipped with all-terrain and advanced technologies such as a fully automatic Terrain Response system, downhill speed control, driving & traction control system, electronic rear differential lock system, 3D surround camera, ClearSight Ground View, and wading depth detection function.
The New Discovery is available in four trims, with prices including a 5-year service plan package as follows: D250 S at 86.8 million KRW, D250 SE at 95 million KRW, D300 HSE at 109.9 million KRW, and P360 R-Dynamic SE at 113.4 million KRW.
