Two Additional COVID-19 Cases Confirmed in Geochang County (Geochang 43rd and 44th)
Close Contact with Confirmed Case from Another Region (Geochang Case No. 42)
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang County in Gyeongnam announced on the 18th that two residents who had close contact with Geochang COVID-19 case number 42, who was confirmed positive after visiting Geochang from another region, tested positive after being tested on the 17th.
The additionally confirmed Geochang cases number 43 and 44 are family members of case number 42. It was revealed that they had close contact by preparing and sharing meals together over 2 to 3 days with the confirmed case who visited Geochang to perform ancestral rites.
The county has hospitalized the confirmed cases at Masan Medical Center, and the county epidemiological investigation team is currently conducting a detailed epidemiological investigation.
Additionally, a temporary mobile screening clinic was set up at the entrances of Wonpyeong Village and Naetam Village in Sinwon-myeon from 9:30 a.m. on the 18th to conduct comprehensive testing of village residents and those who had contact along the confirmed cases' movement paths.
Close contacts identified so far have been tested and placed under self-quarantine, and disinfection and closure orders have been completed at the locations visited by the confirmed cases.

Gu In-mo, the mayor of Geochang County, said, “As ancestral rites and family gatherings increase, many COVID-19 infection cases centered around family and acquaintances are occurring,” and added, “We ask residents to refrain from private gatherings including family meetings and to strictly follow quarantine guidelines.”
