University Student Arrested for Burning 'Rising Sun Flag Printouts' in Front of Busan Japanese Consulate
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] A university student who burned a printed material with the Rising Sun Flag background containing opposition to participation in the Tokyo Olympics in front of the Japanese Consulate in Busan was apprehended by the police.
On the 16th, the Dongbu Police Station in Busan arrested and is investigating university student A, a member of the Busan-Gyeongnam University Student Progressive Union, on charges of violating the Minor Offenses Act.
At around 4:47 PM on the same day, A held an unreported rally with another university student from the same organization in front of the main gate of the Japanese Consulate located in Choryang-dong, Dong-gu, Busan.
A is accused of performing an act of burning an A4 paper with the Rising Sun Flag background that had the phrase "Dokdo invasion militarism Tokyo Olympics rejection" written on it using a disposable lighter.
